YARMOUTHPORT – Cape Cod Volunteers announces the opening of their first local Volunteer Opportunity Center. On Thursdays from 9AM until 12:30 PM free consultation on volunteer opportunities and volunteer issues is available by appointment or for walk-ins. The Harwich Community Center is located at 100 Oak Street in Harwich, just south of Rt.6.

“Our mission is to make it easier for people to find meaningful volunteer opportunities with non-profits all over Cape Cod,” said Lisa McNeill, President of Cape Cod Volunteers. “We have an extensive volunteer matching website which is being heavily used. However, “she continued, “while some people have a good idea about the kinds of volunteering they would like to do, others want to spend more time asking questions and receiving advice relating to volunteering and their personal background and interests.”

The consultations are free and confidential. Whether someone then wants to be put in touch with specific opportunities is totally their decision. Anyone can drop in during office hours,  make a specific appointment, or just call to discuss volunteering on the phone.

Cape Cod Volunteers was established in 2010 to link people with meaningful opportunities for volunteering all over Cape Cod. This is done by informing Cape Codders—residents and visitors alike—about the many volunteer opportunities, programs, and agencies that exist in our community, and by helping people identify their own interests, skills, talents, and passion for service to the community.
